Healthy homes matter – especially for our lungs


As temperatures drop, many New Zealand homes are still contributing to respiratory issues, particularly for children, older adults, and those living with asthma or other lung conditions.

A recent article from the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ highlights the strong link between cold, damp or poorly ventilated homes and worsening respiratory health – and the need to raise awareness about what makes a home healthier.

This Blue Shirt Day, we’re supporting the message that warm, dry, well‑ventilated homes can make a real difference to breathing and overall wellbeing. Small improvements to housing conditions can help reduce flare‑ups, hospital visits, and long‑term health impacts.
