Amy Liu

Amy Liu is a New Zealand trained dietitian who qualified in 2002 from Otago University. She has experience in the public and private sector within New Zealand and the UK. Her Masters thesis looked into the perception of weight in people with type 2 diabetes and how perception affection change and motivation. Her PhD thesis was on the New Zealand cohort of the PREVIEW study (Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes in Europe and Around the World) over 2 years.
Diet and lifestyle intervention play an important role in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases e.g. Cardiovascular disease, Type 2 Diabetes and some cancers. Diet also plays an important role in daily routine such as sleep and concentration.
Amy is currently employed as a Practice Supervisor Diabetes Dietitian at Auckland District Health Board. She has recently completed her Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medical and Health Science, University of Auckland in the Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes. She has maintained a small private practice since 2006 and joined the NZRSI group since 2013. Her areas of specialty involve weight management, PCOS, infertility, Diabetes (Type 1 and type 2), high cholesterol, managing acute kidney failure, polycystic ovarian syndrome, eating disorders, sports nutrition, pregnancy and lactation, gastrointestinal disorders, allergies and elimination diet.
